Our Story
A History of Innovation
1946
The Ruscoe Company is founded by William J. Ruscoe in Akron, Ohio, shortly after World War II. The Company packages and markets adhesive materials (essentially Pliobond®) targeting the booming
retail market and housing construction industry.
1950s
Soldiers and sailors returning from the war desire to get married, buy a home and start a family. Housing tracts spring up across the country, and Ruscoe prospers.
1980s
Nitrile rubber highway sealant products are introduced.
1996
Paul Michalec, Ruscoe’s National Sales Manager, acquires the Company from then owner, Bill Clause.
2000
Ruscoe expands into the manufacture and distribution of commercial roofing restoration products including its Permanent Sealer series.
2002
Ruscoe introduces expanded private-label opportunities along multiple product lines.
2005
The Company aggressively supports research to eliminate or significantly reduce VOCs and other non-environmentally friendly components from all categories of products.
2008
Ruscoe introduces new Urethane Adhesive line.
2009
Ruscoe introduces its Reliobond® brake bonding adhesive product line.
2015
Ruscoe implements programs to help improve working conditions, worker compensation and provide continuing education opportunities for employees.
2018
Ruscoe introduces TPO and PVC membrane cut-edge sealants for the single-ply roofing industry.
2020
Paul Michalec sells his interest in The Ruscoe Company to two investment firms. New ownership is investing in a 20-year growth plan through innovation that creates better performing sustainable products that are user-friendly.
2022
Ruscoe obtains ISO 9001:2015 Certification with Design.
2023
Ruscoe invests in new state of the art packaging equipment to improve efficiency and add capacity.
Today
Ruscoe sells products internationally, distributes materials through a network of U.S. distributors and works with its partners to develop unique product applications across several industries.
